Richard McIndoe has worked in Local Government since 1990 and at Glasgow City Council since 1996. Since 2003 he has been responsible for managing the Council’s role as administering authority for the Strathclyde Pension Fund. With almost 300,000 members and assets of over £33 billion, SPF is the second largest of the c.100 funds which comprise the UK’s Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). It is also one of the most successful. As principal adviser to the Strathclyde Pension Fund Committee and Board, key responsibilities include fund governance, and development of funding strategy and investment strategy. Previous roles at SPF include chief investment officer, and fund accountant. Roles prior to that include insolvency administrator and betting office manager. Currently a member of the Pensions UK Local Authority Committee, LGPS SAB (England & Wales) Compliance & Reporting Committee, and an adviser to the LGPS SAB (Scotland). Represents the Fund’s interests on various private markets advisory committees. Former Chair of Trustees of Scottish Episcopal Church Pension Fund.
